The gift every mum truly needs: time

Time. It’s one of the most precious gifts you can give a mum. But the kind of time she needs depends on the phase of motherhood she’s in - because that phase shapes her needs. Not wants - needs.

Time to herself - to read a book, work on a personal project, or simply enjoy a hot cup of coffee before it goes cold.

Time to be present - to sit peacefully, focused on one thing instead of the ten swirling through her mind, like planning the week ahead.

Time with loved ones - with dear friends she rarely sees anymore, to finish a conversation uninterrupted.

Time to feel loved - romantic time with a partner, to reconnect and remember the woman she was before becoming “mum.”

Time with her growing or grown children - for older mums whose kids are teens or have flown the nest, time together becomes even more cherished. A lunch date, a shopping trip - uninterrupted, phone-free, quality moments.

Time alone - just to be. To think her own thoughts, watch what she wants, and move through a day on her own terms.

Because motherhood often feels like a race against time. In the early years, mums juggle everything - work, family, and the invisible load in between. Later, when time seems to stretch endlessly, it brings a quiet longing for time with loved ones that now feels fleeting.

So ask her: What kind of time do you need right now?
